Choroid plexus papillomas of the foramen of Luschka: MR appearance.

چکیده
Choroid plexus papillomas are rare intracranial neoplasms that are most commonly found in the trigone of the lateral ventricles or in the fourth ventricle. Rare cases of extraventricular choroid plexus papillomas have been reported within the cerebellopontine (CP) angle cistern [1-6]. Such cases have been described as either extending from the fourth ventricle via the foramen of Luschka or arising directly from the CP angle cistern. We report MR findings in two unusual cases of choroid plexus papillomas that appeared to arise from within the foramen of Luschka without an associated intraventricular component. In the first case, the tumor presented as an expansile mass of the foramen of Luschka, whereas in the second case the tumor arose from the foramen of Luschka and extended to the CP angle cistern.

Four cases of choroid plexus papilloma extending through the foramen of Monro are presented. All four patients were evaluated by contrast-enhanced CT and two of these were also evaluated by neurosonography. No other intraventricular tumor commonly extends through a ventricular outlet. The radiographic demonstration of this extension of an intraventricular mass through the foramen of Monro, cere...

A 44-year-old man presented with a chief complaint of severe headaches of 3 weeks duration and left-sided unsteadiness. Cranial CT showed a well-marginated, oval, homogeneously enhancing mass within the left CPA cistern. The lateral ventricles appeared moderately dilated. MR study (Fig. 1) showed a parenchymal isointense mass within the left CPA producing upward displacement of the left middle ...

A 52-year-old woman presented with right rhinorrhea and right otorrhea manifesting as aural fullness for 2 years caused by a choroid plexus papilloma in the right cerebellomedullary cistern. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging revealed a well defined lobulated mass at the foramen of Luschka, which extended towards the right cerebellomedullary cistern with slight dilation of the v...

Relatively few studies have been performed that analyze the morphology of the choroid plexus of the fourth ventricle. Due to the importance of this tissue as a landmark on imaging and during surgical intervention of the fourth ventricle, the authors performed a cadaveric study to better characterize this important structure. The choroid plexus of the fourth ventricle of 60 formalin fixed adult ...
